Because we all have the right to nourishing food.

Help us deliver fresh food and hope to families in the White River Valley. Together, we can create a thriving community.
About Feeding the Valley Alliance
Feeding the Valley Alliance is based in the White River Valley in central Vermont. The Alliance was formed in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenges in accessing food for some members of our community. Those in need were traveling far outside the community to access resources. We saw this as an opportunity to bring resources to the Valley and inform our community about the resources already available. It was also an opportunity to rediscover and strengthen our local food system. In addition to monthly distributions, we also work with statewide organizations to develop strategies for food security
and sovereignty for all.
Serving the White River Valley

What we do
The mission of Feeding the Valley Alliance (FVA) is to:
- Help connect community members to resources to overcome food insecurity
- Help develop a robust local food system
- To serve as a resource for information and ideas about the local food system and food insecurity
- Coordinate with other agencies and organizations devoted to food security and food sovereignty

How do we do it?
FVA is funded through private donations and small grants, including a recent grant from M&T Charitable Foundation.
Once a month, volunteers work with Gifford Medical Center to bring Veggie Van Go fresh vegetable boxes to the valley.
The donations and grants allow us to supplement the boxes with local eggs and produce as available.

What have we done?
In cooperation with Veggie-Van-Go, a program of the VT Food Bank, local farms, Vital Communities, and generous local donors, so far in 2025, we have held 8 distributions and:
- Served an average of 57 families per month, representing 143 people per month.
- Continue to hold monthly distributions
- And, we have continued our participation in the Vermont Food Security Roadmap Coalition, an effort to end hunger in the state by 2035
- We continue as members of the Upper Valley Resilience Network (UVRN) through Vital Communities
How can I help?
Volunteer
We can always use volunteers to serve on our board, transport Veggie Van Go boxes monthly, or assist at distributions. Reach out to our volunteer coordinator Monica Collins.
Donate
Right now, our greatest need is financial support to fuel our mission. In addition to food we receive from the VT Food Bank, we purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, and eggs as locally as possible, helping both those we serve and local farms and businesses.
